    Plaquenil and stomach issues

It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and others. Malaria is spread by mosquitoes, which transmit the parasites that cause the infection, usually in tropical and subtropical parts of the world.

Re Plaquenil stomach issues Reply #5 on December 22, 2011, PM I took it for a week - one day at 400mg, reduced it to 200mg and was really ill with bad diarrhoea. In the past few months I've been experiencing chronic indigestion, heartburn and stomach cramps. Dr says it isn't an ulcer, possibly a stomach virus. I'm wondering if it could be a reaction to Plaquenil. If so, this is a new symptom from a med I've been on for about 3 years. Does anyone else have stomach problems related to SLE and what kind? Re Plaquenil and stomach issues. I don't plan on stopping the meds, I can tell you that, but I do have to call the dr today. Last night, I had a little treat and then about 2 oz of milk to wash it down.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

  4. Many people have stomach issues for 7-10 days, then things settled down. Maybe try it with another liquid rather than milk? I don't have an issue with milk, but don't regularly drink it, so I wouldn't try it with plaquenil. Perhaps the issue is from drinking milk when you don't usually do so? Just gets better quickly!

Stomach problems with Plaquenil. April 9, 2007 By Alan Matsumoto, M. D. I started taking Plaquenil 4 weeks ago for non specific autoimmune disease as indicated by ANA. Symptoms were low grade temperature off and on for a year, joint pain and fatigue. Some people may develop eye problems, so you’ll have to get your eyes checked often. Depending on what you're being treated for, it can take up to 6 months for the full benefits of Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine. Many people have nausea, stomach cramps, and diarrhea when they first start taking Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine. In summary Plaquenil isn't causing tyour new problems. It probably caused only the nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and intense vertigo. BTW 100 mg daily may reduce side effects, but this low dosage also greatly annihilates its positive effects. 100 mg are a drop maybe two. on a hot stone
