    Plaquenil joint pain

My rheumatologist is running tests but thinks I have a mixed connective tissue disease. I noticed plaquenil helping with my fatigue more so than anything else. I just want some relief from the knee, shoulder and wrist pain. It does help my joint pain but I need extra help from other meds too It can take up to 6 months to get in your system and fully work, each person is different.

A bursa is a small sac containing a slippery fluid that is usually found near a joint and allows muscles, bones, and tendons to move easily. Tendonitis irritation of a tendon and bursitis irritation of a bursa are usually due to damage or overuse of a joint. Pain is the major symptom of both conditions. Plaquenil is a drug that is used to treat malaria infections. It also happens to have immunosuppressive properties and is used to limit inflammation. Arthritis is a disease that is characterized by pain secondary to joint inflammation. This patient stated that the plaquenil was working great and her joint pain had been reduced tremendously. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is commonly used for treating joint pain in Sjögren’s syndrome patients, based in part on its efficacy in treating the joint pain of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis.

If it does not help the joint pain be sure to talk to your doctor, there are other meds they can give you to help. From what I understand, it is "the first line of defense" and definitely worth a try! I pray it doesn't take that long for you to get some relief. Plaquenil was great for the pain and swelling but did almost nothing for the fatigue. Of all the meds, Plaquenil was the best for me and helped the most, but some people don't tolerate it.

  3. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is considered a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug DMARD. It can decrease the pain and swelling of arthritis. It may prevent joint damage and reduce the risk of long-term disability. Hydroxychloroquine is in a class of medications that was first used to prevent and treat malaria.

Nov 28, 2010 Plaquenil reduces inflammation in many Rheumatic disorders, the mode of action is pretty complicated though so I shan't bore you with all the details, but basically it prevents your dendritic cells these are messengers for your immune system, if you will from interacting with your T-Cells a special type of white blood cell which through a convoluted and boring process, causes inflammation. Plaquenil was great for the pain and swelling but did almost nothing for the fatigue. I actually have found nothing for fatigue. Of all the meds, Plaquenil was the best for me and helped the most, but some people don't tolerate it. Apr 10, 2019 Common Plaquenil side effects may include headache, dizziness, ringing in your ears; nausea, vomiting, stomach pain; loss of appetite, weight loss; mood changes, feeling nervous or irritable; skin rash or itching; or. hair loss.

High-yielding continuous-flow synthesis of antimalarial. The last step requires the reaction of 12 with 4,7-dichloroquinoline 13 which when used neat takes 24–48 hours at 120–140 °C to give 75–80% yield of HCQ 1. We have found that this step can be accelerated by employing K 2 CO 3 /triethylamine, to facilitate the formation of 1, resulting in a comparable yield in less than 6 hours.
